We hope you have found the updates that we have sent on the blog from the Council useful.
If you need any help with shopping or picking up prescriptions we can help arrange this for you through the Council Hubs who have volunteers who have been approved by the Council.
The Phone a Friend scheme I set up before the lockdown did not take off as I would have thought.Although almost 40 people volunteered , very few people came forward wanting the scheme..In one way that is good news as residents must already have good support and have no need for “ new friends “ ringing .
Recent case works issues raised by residents are:
Queries regarding the impact on the junction at Walshaw re the planning application for apartments at Victoria Mill Walshaw.
Complaints re the site of Andrews Textiles Walshaw Road.Officers notified of trees being removed.Ongoing.
Disappointing to see so many dog owners dumped their bagged pets waste around the sealed bins…pointless and caused lots of complaints and on social media .
TOTTINGTON litter pickers still carrying on with their good work and I passed on their concerns regarding Giant Hogweed on the Kirklees trail .Officers are on the case.
Dogs off leads on Boothway have brought in complaints and more dog fouling complaints ….ongoing.
Complaints of effluent pouring into Island Lodge ….reported to Environmental Health …Informed and being inspected today.

Are you taking part…in your own garden in VE Day Stay At Home Street Party on Friday?
I know Affetside villagers are to celebrate in this way….and my pleasure to judge best dressed cottage etc….virtually of course.

So much great community spirit happening in the Ward , neighbours showing support in most areas and I must mention Christine ,Stewardess of Walshaw Sports Club who for weeks has cooked 100’s of hot dinners .Funded by various people and the Masons. Volunteers led by business man Craig Hindle have delivered the food to the most vulnerable …..WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED.
Please get in touch and we will do our best to help you on any matter.
Please Stay Home and Stay Safe
