We are now entering week 9 of the newly established Tottington Centre and to date all is going well. We are receiving very positive feedback on social media and our website is updated regularly listing all the many events and activities.
I am leading on fundraising and mindful of the £22.000 we have to raise each year for our overheads. We have planned a full programme of fundraising events for 2018 and lists are available in the Library or on our website with all the details.
We had our first event of the year ,a quiz night and raised £1400 ! A great result and a packed house. Next week I am holding a fashion show with donated nearly new clothes and all tickets are now sold, hopefully it will be a financial success. The clothes left over will be for sale in the library from 28th to the 5th of May so do pop in to bag a bargain..and help the Library.
A fun Gardeners Question Time and Supper is planned for Friday 25th May in the library and tickets are £15 (available in the library) and include a 2 Course Supper and a glass of wine. A Village Fete is planned for the 24th June on the Library car park….more details in due course. Any books to donate, please bring them in.
We now have over 700 members and 60 Volunteers….with all ages visiting the library for activities …from tots for Storytime and senior men attending our Grandads Gathering discussion group every fortnight.
Lots of groups meeting too and rooms available to hire. I have personally been very busy in setting up the dining area ready for the Tea Rooms opening in late May.We have old furniture in keeping with the building and there will be an outside seating area overlooking the bowling green too.
Its very exciting and I feel sure will be popular.A local pub landlord is to operate the cafe. We are presently recruiting Volunteers with good computer skills , so please pop in the library should you be interested.
We are open more than any Library in the Borough at 5 and a half days a week.
If you have yet to call in, please do so soon and see for yourself that the battle to save the Library was well worth it !
Please do remember to vote for my hardworking colleague Iain Gartside on May 3rd.
