RE-ELECT GREG KEELEY FOR TOTTINGTON WARD.
The Local Choice for Tottington Ward
Greg with his fellow Tottington Conservative Councillors Iain Gartside & Yvonne Wright
Greg has lived in Bury for fourteen years and was brought up in north Manchester with his five brothers and sisters. He now lives in Tottington off Cann Street.
He is the father of four children, the youngest of whom attends a local primary school. Greg served for almost thirty years in the Greater Manchester Police, most of his service being on patrol duties in touch with the communities that he served.
Having retired from the police service, Greg was elected as Councillor for Tottington Ward in October 2015 following the conviction and resignation of the Labour Councillor.
In addition to his work as Councillor, Greg is a governor of Tottington Primary School and a member of the P.T.F.A. at his daughter’s school. He is also a member of a local church choir. He is a keen swimmer and holidays around the country with his wife and youngest daughter in their caravan.
Greg wants to continue to serve the people of Tottington, Walshaw and Affetside and hopes to be re-elected on May 5th. Ballot papers for people who are registered to Vote by Post have now started to be sent out by Bury Council.
GREG CALLS FOR ACTION ON BINS AND POTHOLES
Bury Conservatives receive unending complaints about three weekly bin collections. They want to reinstate two weekly grey bin collections so that there are no more complaints about flies and maggots. Homes with children need two weekly bin collections.
As a parent Greg has a good idea of what families need and will continue to argue for the return to two weekly bin collections. The roads in Bury are in a poor condition. Good roads are a basic necessity for all who live, work and visit Bury.
Money has been provided by the government to help with highways maintenance but the roads remain in poor condition. A Conservative Bury Council would increase spending by a further £2million on the highways network.
10 GOOD REASONS TO VOTE FOR GREG
1) PROTECTING OUR GREEN BELT
Greg and Bury Conservatives are committed to preserving the Green Beltgh. In recent months the Tottington Councillors have opposed plans to build off Turton Rd. and the rear of Victoria St. Both efforts were thwarted by the Labour majority.
2 ACTION TO PREVENT FLOODING
Following the flooding on Scobell Street and Leeman’s Hill Greg is calling for more investment to ensure gullies are cleaned more often. Your Conservative Councillors also call for culverts to be repaired and maintained.
3 TACKLE ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
As a former Police Officer Greg knows anti social behaviour affects people’s lives. He will seek to enhance community safety partnership with the Police. Greg wants to ensure that Tottington remains a safe place to live.
4 RETURN TO FORTNIGHTLY GREY BIN COLLECTIONS
Through education, recycling rates will improve and we will see a reduction in fly tipping and litter.
5 BRING MORE HIGHLY SKILLED JOBS TO BURY
Greg and the Conservatives have a policy proposal to improve training and inward investment to create more highly skilled career jobs in Bury.
6 MORE INVESTMENT IN OUR BROKEN ROADS
By using some of the Council’s reserves an extra £2million would be spent on repairing potholes and pavements.
7 PROTECTING OUR GREEN BELT
Greg and the Conservatives will protect our Green Belt which may well come under threat from the new Greater Manchester Mayoral authority.
8 RESTORE OUR LIBRARY
Greg and the Conservatives will restore the Bury Central Library to one worthy of a Metropolitan Borough, with Reference Works and Study areas.
9 POSITIVE ACTION TO PREVENT FLOODING
Increase gully and culvert cleaning to reduce the risk of flooding.
10 CLAMPING DOWN ON DOG FOULING
Greg and the Conservatives would increase the number of Dog wardens and patrols.
